The Institute of Defense Cyber Security at Sejong University (Director Byun Jae-sun) announced on Monday that it will hold the "TISD (Time Sync Identification) Research Center" (Joint Center Director Ahn Sang-il, Kim Young-gap) on Saturday and will step up efforts to strengthen cyber security in defense. TSID is a time synchronization-based authentication system that allows users to complete authentication without needing a separate ID or password.
Prior to this, Sejong University signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with TSID (CEO Yoon Seung-kwon) in March 2018 for research and cooperation in TSID certification technology. Since then, it has developed a TSID certification engine equipped with a two-way non-fixed value algorithm and recently opened a TISD research center as it acquired the first grade of GS certification and information security certification (quick verification system).
The TSID certification engine applied an international patent technology "two-way non-fixed value" certification algorithm that only the person can authenticate in the ID and password system, which is the point of contact for hackers. It is also equipped with "AND" certification, which enables multiple authentication and must agree with each other, and "OR" certification, which authenticates at a certain percentage of the group.
"The TTA test lab found that even if the TSID certification engine is tested five times, 10 million times, the duplicate key value does not come out," said Sohn Sang-il, head of the center. "The fact that duplicate key values do not come out is proof that hacking and theft of account access rights can never occur."
Byun Jae-sun, head of Sejong University's National Defense Cyber Security Research Institute, said, "We will establish and operate the Sejong University TSID Center to train high-quality cybersecurity experts and conduct cybersecurity policy research to cope with the rapidly increasing cyber threats."
Meanwhile, Sejong University is the only university in Korea to run a defense contract department from the army, navy, air force, and Marine Corps, serving as a private military academy that produces more than 100 officers every year.
